10 steps on how to join a new church

  • Pray and ask God to guide you in finding a church that suits your needs and beliefs. You can also ask other Christians for recommendations or advice1.
  • Do some research online or offline about the churches in your area. You can look at their websites, social media pages, or flyers to learn more about their doctrines, services, programs, and activities2. You can also read reviews or testimonials from other people who have attended or joined those churches.
  • Visit the churches that interest you and observe their worship style, atmosphere, and culture. You can also talk to the pastor, the leaders, or the members and ask them questions about the church. You can also attend their bible studies, prayer meetings, or other events to get a better feel of the church community.
  • If you find a church that you like and want to join, find out what their membership process is. Some churches may require you to attend a membership class, a baptism service, or a confirmation ceremony before you can become a member. Others may simply welcome you as a member after you express your desire to join and agree with their statement of faith.
  • Before you make any decisions, pray about it and decide how much you will be tithing to the church. In the bible, God asks us to tithe. It may mean that you will just tithe 10% but there’s no verse that says you can’t give more.
  • After you join, get involved in the church life and ministry. You can join a small group, a ministry team, or a service project that matches your gifts and passions. You can also support the church financially, prayerfully, and practically. You can also invite others to join the church and share the gospel with them.
  • Keep learning and growing in your faith and relationship with God. You can read the Bible, pray, worship, and meditate daily. You can also seek guidance and counsel from your pastor, leaders, or mentors. You can also attend seminars, workshops, or retreats that can enrich your spiritual journey.
  • Be faithful and loyal to your church and its leadership. You can respect their authority and follow their instructions. You can also avoid gossip, criticism, or division. You can also defend your church from false accusations or attacks. You can also submit to their discipline and correction.
  • Be a blessing and a witness to your church and the world. You can love, serve, and encourage your fellow members. You can also share your testimony, gifts, and resources with them. You can also reach out to the lost, the needy, and the hurting. You can also demonstrate the fruits and the gifts of the Spirit.
  • Enjoy the fellowship and the favor of God. You can celebrate God’s goodness and faithfulness with your church family. You can also rejoice in the salvation and the transformation of lives. You can also anticipate God’s glorious future for you and your church.
